The San Francesco is located at the foot of the hill leading to Sant'Elmo Castle and the Certosa di San Martino Museum. The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Corso Vittorio Emanuele Funicular Railway stop.

What was the highlight of San Francesco al Monte Hotel
Blissful
I absolutely loved my stay here. The view from my bedroom was amazing!! Stunning views of Vesuvius. It was walkable to the train station through old cobbled streets with such character. I wouldn't advise walking with bags. The food, service and room were all amazing. Really lovely experience.
I thought there was a spa in the hotel. Unfortunately there was not anymore - however, the staff recommended a lovely one for me!

This hotel is at the top of a hill, you will need a taxi to reach it.
We had a sea view room which looked out over the port. The room was bigger than I imagined and had lots of space. There is a pool up on the roof where there is also a bar
If you don’t book directly with the hotel, you have to pay extra to use the swimming pool.

What was the highlight of San Francesco al Monte Hotel
Spectacular location, quiet, clean and very comfortable, calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The panoramic views of Naples, Vesuvius, Capri and the Bay are breathtaking, the hotel sits high above the noisy bustle of the city, the rooftop terrace in particular is a place of peace and calm. My bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The large shower cubicle, alongside the window, offered the same views! Although you can hear people on the corridors, there was absolutely no perceptible sound between the rooms at all. There is a quiet gentility in the atmosphere and from the staff. It’s a fascinating building with a lot of history and many signs to its previous life. Perfect place to take a breath from the frantic noisy excitement of Naples. One point I would like to pass on ; Google maps shows a short walk from the Metro but doesn’t tell you that it’s practically vertical, up hundreds (!) of steps. Take the time to check out the route that incorporates the funicular railway - it’s cheap, frequent, fun to ride and doesn’t leave you breathless. The hotel is just a short walk from the first stop, on the flat.
Definitely more thought could have gone into providing more interesting Vegan options at breakfast and dinner, especially since it had been mentioned by me many times in advance of the stay. I wasn’t at all convinced that any of my responses to the hotel’s emailed enquiries had even been read. Our recommended “Gourmet Break” dinner option was a huge plain green salad with tomatoes to start, followed by (admittedly delicious) tomato pasta, but the only other option was aubergine pasta. Breakfast was limited to bread and fruit, although soya milk was available. The single lift is very much in demand, so you may have to be prepared to wait a while, but the lift goes up the outside of the building and makes the most of the view to compensate. The staircases are not clearly marked and can be tricky to find, but when you do, they are gorgeous.

Nice enough stay!
Incredibly interesting hotel and building, the evening food and restaurant was great.
The breakfast was cold and when we discussed it with staff the shrugged and left it be, the room was quite warm and the cocktails at the Bar were shocking.
